Kreen: A Mobile Platform for On-Demand Towing Services
Description:
Kreen is a mobile e-service platform developed to modernize how towing services are accessed in Iraq while addressing the widespread "writing on walls" practice used by tow truck owners to advertise their phone numbers. This phenomenon has significantly affected the visual environment of many cities, particularly Baghdad. The project proposes a digital alternative that connects drivers in need of assistance with nearby towing providers through a simple smartphone application.
Tow truck owners can register on the platform and create profiles containing their contact details. When a driver requests help, the application uses GPS to identify the user’s location and presents a sorted list of the nearest available towing services. This enables fast, location-based assistance without relying on informal advertising methods.
The application was developed using Android Studio and Java, supported by an online database to manage user and provider information. It was extensively tested across multiple Android versions and deployed on the Google Play Store, demonstrating reliable performance across locations and devices. This project highlights how mobile technology and geolocation services can offer practical solutions to real societal and environmental challenges.
